Leading New York theater professionals will gather at Tony’s Di Napoli Restaurant (Downstairs Room), 147 West 43rd Street in Times Square, on Monday, February 2, at 6:15 PM to participate in the Drama Desk’s first industry Panel Discussion of the 2008/2009 theater season on the subject "Can Theater Inspire Social Change?"
The panelists include: actor/writer/director Joseph Bologna (co-author and director of the new play, Lansky); Richard Frankel, producer of such shows as Hairspray and Gypsy; John Gould Rubin, Co-Artistic Director and Executive Director of the LAByrinth Theater Company; actress and author Nijala Sun (No Child…..); and actor Casimiro Torres (The Castle). David Rothenberg, host of WBAI Radio’s Any Saturday, will moderate.
Created in 1949, the Drama Desk is an organization of professional writers, critics and columnists who regularly cover all sectors of New York Theater. Since 1955, the Drama Desk has presented annual awards for excellence in all creative aspects of theatrical production. This year, the annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday evening, May 17, at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center.
