MEN FOR ALL SEASONS – THE ART OF ACTING IN A SHOW,A SPECIAL DRAMA DESK LUNCHEON-PANEL AT SARDI’S ON JUNE 15WILL CELEBRATE LEADING MALE STARS OF THE NEW YORK STAGE

New York, NY, -- The Drama Desk will pay tribute to the leading men of the New York stage at its Special Summer Luncheon Panel at Sardi’s on Friday, June 15. The Panel, entitled Men For All Seasons – The Art of Acting in a Show – will take place between 11:45 AM and 2:30 PM. Panelists confirmed as of this date include (in alphabetical order): Michael Cerveris (Love/Musik), Raúl Esparza (Company) and Liev Schreiber (Talk Radio). Elysa Gardner, Theater Critic for USA Today and a member of the Drama Desk organization, will serve as moderator.

Michael Cerveris is currently co-starring as composer Kurt Weill opposite Donna Murphy as actress Lotte Lenya in LoveMusik, the dramatic musical directed by Hal Prince and written by Alfred Uhry. He previously starred on the New York stage in productions of Sweeney Todd, Passion, Assassins, Titanic and The Who’s Tommy.  He won the 2004 Tony Award as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in Assassins. This year he received both Drama Desk and Tony Award nominations for his starring role In LoveMusik and received Tony and Drama Desk nominations in 2006 for his starring role in Sweeney Todd.

Raúl Esparza won the 2007 Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical for his starring role in the revival of Company. Since 1998, he has starred in numerous musicals on the New York stage, among them, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Taboo and revivals of Cabaret, Hair, The Rocky Horror Show and Chess.  He won his first Drama Desk Award in 2004 as Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical for Taboo. He also won a 2001 Theatre World Award for Rocky Horror Picture Show. He was also nominated for Tonys in 2007 (Company) and in 2004 (Taboo).

Liev Schreiber was nominated in 2007 for both Drama Desk and Tony Awards for his current tour de force performance on Broadway in Talk Radio. He won a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award in 2005 for Glengarry Glen Ross. In 2001, he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his role in the revival of Betrayal.  His Off-Broadway credits include Public Theater productions of Macbeth, Henry V, Othello and Hamlet. He also has numerous feature film credits, including The Painted Veil, The Manchurian Candidate and A Walk on the Moon, and he directed the film Everything is Illuminated.

The Drama Desk, organized in 1949, presented its first awards in 1955. It is the only theater organization whose award nominations honor Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway and not-for-profit theater productions equally in multiple categories. The Drama Desk membership includes over 130 voting theater critics, reporters and editors. The 52nd Annual Drama Desk Awards took place on May 20, 2007, and the awards ceremony was subsequently broadcast on Thirteen/WNET and NYC TV 25 in the metropolitan New York area. The two-hour TV special will also air on many PBS stations nationwide over the next three months.
