THE 47TH ANNUAL DRAMA DESK AWARDS

Some of this theatre season’s top performers – Elaine Stritch, John Lithgow, Mos Def, Andrea Martin, Bill Pullman, Mercedes Ruehl, Vanessa Williams and Jeffrey Wright - will be presenters at The 47th Annual Drama Desk Awards on Sunday, May 19, 2002, at 9:00 PM. Rue McClanahan will host.
The awards show will also feature live performances by Patrick Wilson, Laura Benanti, Sherie Rene Scott, Louise Pitre and Brian d´Arcy James from their musicals -- Oklahoma!, Into The Woods, The Last 5 Years, Mamma Mia! and Sweet Smell of Success, respectively.
A limited number of tickets are currently available for $175 to the public and $150 to members of the theatre community. Tickets may be purchased by calling SmartTix at 212/206-1515.
The awards show will originate from the Concert Hall at the F.H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, 100 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street.
There will be two receptions immediately preceding the awards show, one for VIPs in the Grand Ballroom of the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel, 36 Central Park South, and the second for all ticket holders in the lobby of the Concert Hall, sponsored by HitShowClub.com. A post-event reception will take place at the Compass Restaurant and Bar, 208 West 70th Street, between West End and Amsterdam Avenues.

47th Annual Drama Desk Awards/Presenters & Performers Release

The 47th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be cablecast live in its entirety by NY1 News which will be rebroadcast the program on Saturday, May 25, at 7 PM. For the second year in succession, THIRTEEN/WNET, New York’s premier public broadcasting television station, will also rebroadcast the awards show on Monday, May 27, at 9 PM.
