NOMINATIONS FOR 47TH ANNUAL DRAMA DESK AWARDS
TO BE ANNOUNCED APRIL 30 AT NY FRIARS CLUB
"Cabaret" Stars Polly Bergen and John StamosTo Announce Nominees
Nominations for The 47th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be announced on Tuesday, April 30, at 10:00 AM at a news conference to be held at the New York Friars Club, 57 East 55th Street. Polly Bergen and John Stamos, stars of Broadway's "Cabaret," will join David Sheward, Managing Editor of Back Stage and President of the Drama Desk, in making the announcements. The announcements will be broadcast live on NY1 News from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
The 47th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, May 19, at 9:00 PM at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. The awards show will be televised live on NY1 News. (Thirteen/WNET, New York's premier public television station, will rebroadcast the entire awards show on Monday, May 27, at 9:00 PM.)
Organized in 1949, the Drama Desk is the only professional theatre organization whose awards honor Broadway, Off Broadway, Off Off Broadway and not-for-profit theatre productions equally in multiple categories.
The 47th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be produced by Lauren Class Schneider and directed by Jeff Kalpak. The awards telecast will be presented by Robert R. Blume and TheatreSport, Ltd. Sarah Galvin, Les Schecter and Jae French are Associate Producers. Randie Levine Miller is Executive Director for Drama Desk.
