Drama Desk Nomination 2002-2003

Thursday, May 1st 2003

The nominations were announced by Oscar winning producer Martin Richards (Chicago) and Judy Kaye, co-star of Broadway's Mamma Mia, who were introduced by Drama Desk co-Presidents David Sheward, Managing Editor of Back Stage, and William Wolf of Wolfentertainmentguide.com. The nominations ceremony, webcast by Theatermania.com, was held at The New York Friars Club.

The Drama Desk Awards are one of the most coveted and prestigious awards in the world of the American Theatre. Even a Drama Desk Award Nomination can propel a creative artist struggling in relative obscurity to prominence.

Actors, playwrights, composers, lyricists, librettists, directors, producers, and designers who are/were represented on Broadway, Off Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway in productions opening between May 2002 and April 2003 were eligible to receive a nomination for a Drama Desk Award, which recognized their outstanding artistic contribution during the 2002-2003 season.
