The year 2008 marks the 53rd Anniversary of The Drama Desk Awards and you have the opportunity to partake in this exciting, celebrity-filled event, will be hosted by the cast of [title of show]. Past presenters include Angela Lansbury, Billy Crystal, Hugh Jackman, Antonio Banderas, and Kevin Spacey.
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 18th in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, and this star-studded event guarantees an evening not to be missed! Nominations for this year’s Drama Desk Awards will be announced by Bebe Neuwirth and Len Cariou at the NY Friar’s Club breakfast on April 28th, 2008.
The Drama Desk Awards ceremony is the only event of its kind that embraces both the Broadway and off-Broadway sectors of the New York theatre. The Drama Desk Awards sets the tone for the Tonys, much as the Golden Globes do for the Oscars. Significantly, the Drama Desk Awards also nurture artists of the future by giving scholarships to deserving students who aspire to careers in theatrical arts that are announced during the awards ceremony.

The 2008 awards will be webcast via TheaterMania.com and aired Live on XM Satellite Radio; however, we receive no broadcast funds as we rely totally on sponsors, benefactors and ticket sales to finance production of the show, the receptions, and all media!
